So, is it possible to take the output of a streaming box like XUMO and input it to this and mimic an OTA video channel that will allow for OTA Pause on my TCL TV? We in my community (HOA) have switched from cable to FIOS (Spectrum) and a XUMO stream device but lost the ability to Pause live video which was provided by our Spectrum DVR's before this disastrous change in equipment. Thanks in advance

Antenna Man - I recently watched a video clip you provided regarding Frndly TV and local channels. My wife and I cut the cord recently and we are picking up locals on several TV's right now with rabbit ears. We had a large rooftop antenna recently removed that we had installed years ago when a new roof was completed. It was old and an eyesore but it did provide solid local channel reception. I had the roof installers save the wiring and they tucked it in under the second story northwest corner of the roof. The reception we get with the rabbit ears we now use comes and goes with the weather. I'd like to get a more modern antenna up off of the northwest corner of the roof. Do I need to sign up with your service to get a recommendation for this? I live in western PA near the Ohio border. The local channels we get actually come out of Youngstown, OH.

If you want an antenna for FM reception and don't want to spend $200.00 for one you can use the STELLAR LABS 30-2476 TV antenna and it is only $39.69. It works great for FM as well as upper VHF TV.

My dad had a 12ft paralog FM antenna years ago on a rotor up 20 ft. We had a flat terrain with no interference. Fantastic product when you're in the fringe and need to pick up distance stations well. Worked like a champ. But it doesn't work well in my current location with many local transmitters. I wanted good reception from a station 70mi away. The big antenna, even at 30 ft, didn't work because of signal overload by local stations. I got one of those cheap S shaped antennas and walked around my yard and found one area, where the station came in noise free. I mounted it on a small pole, 3ft elevation where the signal was the strongest. It was a great signal for years!! It worked there ONLY because I have many 100 ft. pine trees which CAN reflect signals from higher levels right down into my yard! IF you have tall trees between you and the station try to find a reflected signal with a small antenna by just roaming around your yard before spending a lot of money on a big antenna. Back when I was in a dorm, I was one of the few students to pick up stations 110 mi away fairly well. Many years later I realized I was getting a signal bounced from the top of a high water tower. My dorm room was in the RIGHT spot for that reflection! I had to run coax to the other students that were at the same elevation, but couldn't get the stations. I use the same trick for a TV station I enjoy that also comes from 70 mi away. My TV antenna for that station is roughly 10 ft high and positioned for a reflected signal from a distant tree. It gave me solid reception for many years until one day the tree was chopped down! I heard the chain saws on the next street and as they removed the tree, the signal disappeared. I did another survey of my yard and found another strong signal from another tree that provides 99% perfect reception today. This technique ONLY works if you have trees or other high objects between you and the station you're trying to receive. No trees? No water towers? Then get your antenna really high. Height has a huge effect. A $20 antenna at 50ft may actually work better than a $200 antenna at 20 ft, and the $200 antenna may also be easily overloaded by local stations. But if you have trees or tall objects, take some time and patience to see if you can find a reflected signal at ground level with a cheap antenna. You might be VERY surprised.

Tyler, Great video! I'd like to add it's important to check with the broadcaster. Almost a year ago, KRCR in Redding, California installed $100K of new broadcast equipment. This was about the same time I cut the cord. I put the antenna up (a very good one), I took it down. I installed a Channel Master PreAmp on the RG6 coax. Still intermittant interference on several channels. I worked professionally with RF, Radars, and EMI during my Navy career. Nothing was making sense. Finally, I got hold of the engineer assistant for one of the local stations displaying problems and they admitted they were haveing an intermittant "timing" problem across their stations. He also referred to all the text that runs across the screen or displays at different corners of sports broadcast. Just examples he said puts a big tax on the equipment. After months, an engineer from "corporate" showed up. The frequency of the pixelations has decreased, but it still happens. I can only guess, corporate is not willing to invest another $100K to really fix the problem. With all that said, there are so many things that can go wrong with a digital signal. Don't blame your home install and rip it out.

The entire NY/NJ Metro area---WNET 13, WLIW Channels 21-1, 21-3, 21-4 and NJPBS Channel 50, have been either impossible to receive a consistent signal on or off the air altogether (NJ PBS Channel 50). It seems like it's gotten worse in the last few years. Someone using a power tool or appliance, neighbors' kids playing downstairs, a bad rainstorm or wind, throws the station off the air. The pixelation, abrupt sound on and off, that infuriatng "No signal---check your connection..." has made me throw the remote in anger and frustration. No amount of adjusting the flat antenna or connecting cable has worked. I tried unplugging the amplifier it came with, replugging it---nothing has helped. Now, hearing about the millions they took to do this has made me angrier with those annoying schnorrfests when they plead endlessly for donations. This set of stations is supposed to be a source of commercial-free information and entertainment for the communities they serve, but instead of serving those who can least afford it, they decided to make it difficult or cut us off. BTW, when I go on the web pages of those local stations, almost no resources are available for technical support. And those important programs I count on are locked behind a paywall known as "Passport." Now I have to pay more money for another antenna...

I would like if you did reviews of stereo antennas and how-to vids like you do tv antennae. When I bought my range experts 1500 based on your recommendation I picked up an FM rooftop antenna for like $20 on Amazon and it's been awesome. I'd like to see what better options are out there and I think others would love to see the reviews as well.

I am wondering if a dedicated FM antenna could do a decent job picking up channels 2-6 which sit just below the FM band. Of course it's getting harder to find VHF lo stations these days.

I'm told it will work for upper low VHF channels like RF 5 and 6. I didn't mention this in the video because I did not want non-technical individuals purchasing it as a TV antenna who don't understand virtual vs RF channels.

Back in the 1970's &80's the music content on FM was so much better, I had bought and put up a 6 element FM beam antenna, no problem getting local and more distant FM stations. Today with all the low power stations on the air having a good beam FM antenna is an excellent Idea! You chances of finding good stations is too.

It would be cool if you could do a test of this antenna vs an indoor. Unfortunately the side bands of HD radio make it hard to do DXing like we used to, at least in a metro area.

I have 4 TV's on my antenna. Do you have a video for that? Only the two closest to the antenna give good signals.

I have an AM/FM antenna up. I'm on the fringe for a lower power station that is about 30 miles away. Reception is not great. For that station, I have just switched to their streaming service. K-ZAP/KZHP-LP. Check out their stream. The DJs get no salary but range from being local to being in the UK. Another lower power station that streams is a high school channel KYDS

When I was younger (mid 2000's) a 13 element yagi did exist. I'm about to buy this thing and hook it up to my Sangean HD radio tuner and see how it does.

Tyler needs to review this! Out of his wheel house, but it's time to buck back against cable, and satellite! Radio is not dead!

I have the same radio tuner. It will do very well, provided you don't get overload from local stations, like in a city. Overload is a huge problem for me but the Sangean does quite well using with a small antenna in my yard capturing signals reflected from the tops of the trees. It will depend on your location.
